    IT EXHAUSTS THE BODY

“Those at all acquainted, experimentally, with the nature of this function, need not be told that few things are equally exhausting. This function was instituted to transmit the entire mentality and physiology of parents to offspring; and since the latter take on the existing conditions of the former, and these only, it becomes absolutely necessary that this function should call forth, in a powerful degree of action, all the mental, all the physical, functions of parents, as the means of their transmission to offspring. Now this intense and simultaneous action of all the functions of our nature in this indulgence, of course proportionally exhausts. A hard day’s work does not equally prostrate and fatigue.SOAP 198.3
